Live dispatch¶
Also in the app
Press ? in Fab Dispatch to read this in the help center, or / to ask the assistant.
Live dispatch runs the shift as it happens. Tool-downs are revealed only when they occur (no peeking ahead), work that has started is locked, and the chosen strategy re-plans the open work on every event. Everyone watching the shift sees each change as it happens.
Start a shift¶
Choose a Re-dispatch strategy (ALNS by default) and click Start live shift. You need the dispatcher role to start or drive a shift; viewers can join and watch.
Drive the clock¶
- Play advances the clock continuously at the chosen speed (5, 15 or 30 shift-minutes per second); Pause stops it.
- +1 h jumps an hour.
- Only one dispatcher drives the clock at a time. The driver holds it for 20 seconds after their last tick, and pausing hands it back straight away. The bar shows who is driving.
Report a bottleneck down¶
Turn on Tap floor to report a bottleneck down and click inside a tool area. The job enters the shift with the preset's bottleneck response window (45 minutes in Fab 1's normal shift, 40 in Fab 2's), the plan re-optimises, and everyone gets an alert.
Take an engineer off shift¶
Select an engineer on the floor and click Take off shift now. Their open work is re-planned to others; locked work stays as it is.
Re-plans don't reshuffle people¶
Moving a job to a different engineer costs stability points, so a re-plan only reassigns work when it's clearly better. The dispatch log lists what moved.
Share and rejoin¶
Copy link shares the shift; anyone with access to the fab can open it. Recent shifts lists the fab's shifts so you can Join one after closing the tab, and Leave returns to the list.
Connection¶
The dot next to the clock shows live while updates stream in. If the connection drops, the view says reconnecting and catches up automatically, without missing events. While you're offline the shift keeps its state on the server.
